Do your homework when considering financing energy improvements for your home. Shop around for an option that best suits your situation, making sure you understand the terms and risks of each option.
Whether you rent or own, saving money on your utility bills is a big win – for you and the environment. But how can you save and where can you start?
This chart, courtesy of the U.S. Department of Energy, stacks it up for you and provides estimated annual costs on the appliances we depend on most. When looking at the cost per year and corresponding appliance, ask yourself:
- Do I need this on a daily basis? (Do I need my DVD player turned on at all times?)
- Can I get away with less? (Do I really need that extra fridge?)
- Does the cost warrant my need? (Can I do with less hot water?)
